Whey protein is a staple in any fitness nut’s supplement cabinet. These chocolaty and vanilla-y protein powders rev the body’s recovery processes to repair microscopic muscle-tearing to increase the size and restore strength.

Sculpt Nation’s Whey Powder is only the latest in a long line of supplements from V Shred founder and fitness influencer Vince Sant.

But at $47 per two-pound tub — or $1.56 for each 25g serving — is Sculpt Nation’s Protein Powder worth the money?

About the Creator – Sculpt Nation

Celebrity trainer Vince Sant heroically created the Sculpt Nation supplement brand because, if he didn’t, who would?

Up-in-arms V Shred customers were desperately begging him for supplement advice because every supplement in the pre-Sculpt Nation era was bogus or dangerous. Vince Sant manned up and took action, from ingredient selection to third-party testing, being the white knight he is.

(Oh, c’mon, that was bleeding sarcasm.)

The ISSA-certified personal trainer and Vinsanity Shred namesake now has dozens of signature sports supplements — like creatine, test-boosters, and apple cider vinegar gummies.

A Closer Look at Sculpt Nation’s Protein Powder

Sculpt Nation’s Protein Powder packs 90% whey protein isolate into every 25g scoop for wicked-fast absorption and maximum muscle recovery post-workout. Each $47, the two-pound barrel contains 30 servings of either vanilla or chocolate-flavored protein powder.

Here’s what Vince Sant promises in every scoop of Sculpt Nation Protein Powder:

  • Your “dream body” and a “rapid body transformation”
  • Fast-acting branched-chain amino acids (BCAAs)
  • High bioavailability for maximal absorption
  • No genetically modified organisms (GMOs)
  • 3g of leucine — an amino acid linked to muscle growth & performance
  • Rockstar flavors
  • Boosted strength and “melted” body fat
  • Stimulate protein synthesis for recovery & muscle bulk
  • Not like those “other guys” who sell fart-machine powders
  • Almost zero fat and lactose content
  • Increased satiety (fullness) & boosted anabolic hormones

OK, that sounds like a near-even mix of corny QVC-style sales talk and the basic benefits of whey protein. But we’ll dissect this thang a ‘lil further as we do with every product we review.

Protein Powder Details

Protein powder details image

Based on hype alone, we’d rate Sculpt Nation’s Protein Powder a raving 10 out of 10. But how does this protein powder really match up to others on the market in the areas of ingredients, nutrients, and usage instructions?

Ingredients

Sculpt Nation Protein Powders all have 5–6 ingredients, depending on if you’re in the chocolate camp or team vanilla. Here’s a closer look at what you’ll find in every scoop:

Whey Protein Isolate

Whey protein isolate is whey protein stripped down to as close to its “pure” protein roots as possible. The main appeal to isolate (over concentrate) is that it’s lower in fats and carbohydrates and is nearly lactose-free despite its higher price tag.

Whey Protein Concentrate

While its protein content is noticeably lower than concentrate, isolate isn’t much better than concentrate from the size and strength perspective. Studies connect training combined with either concentrate or isolate to similar improvements in strength, endurance, and performance.

This blend of mostly isolating and concentrating toes the line between the benefits of both.

Natural and Artificial Flavors

This one kind of opens the door to every ingredient on earth. But since these are vanilla and protein powders, we’d bet they’re artificial ingredients that mimic either of those flavors.

Acesulfame Potassium

Yes, as you were all wondering, Sant did choose to add acesulfame potassium to this bad boy (of course). While it sounds scary, it’s essentially a safe artificial sweetener.

Silicon Dioxide (Vanilla)

Silicone dioxide is a popular food & supplement ingredient because it resists caking (or stickiness), and no studies suggest it’s dangerous in supplements.

Anti-Foam (Chocolate)

Yeah, name aside, we don’t really know why Sant added this one. If you hand-selected “anti-foam” as an ingredient in the chocolate powder, why not say, “We chose anti-foam because it produces a less foamy drink when mixing” or whatever?

Cocoa Powder (Chocolate)

The chocolate flavoring has to come from somewhere.

Contains Milk

Fun fact: Whey protein is one of the primary protein sources in natural cow’s milk and is extracted during the cheese-making process. Sculpt Nation Protein Powder is mostly lactose-free, but it may not be safe for those allergic to cow’s milk.

Nutritional Facts

The Supplement Facts for the chocolate and vanilla flavors are only slightly different. We’ll catch you on the other side of this nutritional breakdown chart!

Nope, not a single bit of this strikes as odd or out of the ordinary. Actually, given the price tag, 25g of protein is on the low-end when you’re pitting it against Muscle Milk and even the budget-brand Pure Protein.

How to Take It (Dosage Instructions)

Now, that would’ve been a good detail to share. Unfortunately, there are nothing on the tub explaining what to mix it with (water or milk), how much liquid to mix it with, or how many scoops to dump into your shaker bottle.

But we have a hunch it’ll blend fine in 6–20 ounces of water (if you’re on a cut) or milk (for a creamier consistency). The powder also mixes easily, so you won’t end up with a chunky drink that bursts open into powdery clumps that require a shameful amount of chewing.

Tip: Welp, the concept of “nutrient timing” is all but dead. But consuming 20–40g of protein within the two hours post-training is still typically best for muscle protein synthesis.

Sculpt Nation Protein Powder Pros

  1. Chocolate Flavor Isn’t Bad. Kyle got completely reckless and decided to give this bad boy a whirl. His words: “[the] chocolate flavor is good.” There you have it, folks. If you’re not a fan of chalky, bland, or chemical-flavored protein powders, try Sculpt Nation.
  2. Mixes Easily. If nothing else, this protein powder blends flawlessly. There aren’t any powdery clumps or grainy final sips this time around.
  3. No Proprietary Blends. Wow, the bar is literally on the floor. Hey, at least it’s not a proprietary blend where Sculpt Nation throws a bunch of ingredients into a blender but doesn’t explain how much (or even what) is in every scoop … right? Right?
  4. Two Flavor Options. Chocolate and vanilla are in a dead-heat in the battle of the top-rated ice cream flavor, earning 14% and 13% of the vote, respectively. Whether you’re team chocolate or team vanilla, there’s a Sculpt Nation protein powder for you!
  5. 25 Grams of Protein Per Scoop. Most researchers agree that the muscles need at least 20g of protein after a workout to maximize muscle protein synthesis and recovery. Sculpt Nation’s powder is slightly above that mark for a little extra protein kick.
  6. Isolate Is Better for Growth. Whey protein isolate packs fewer carbohydrates and fats into every gram, making it as close to “pure protein” as they come. Plot twist: Isolate also has less lactose than concentrate for better digestibility for lactose-intolerant folks.
  7. No GMOs. Who would’ve thought that scientists were intentionally creating dangerous ingredients in a laboratory? Studies link GMOs to weakened immune systems, poor nutrition, and actual cancer in recent decades.

Sculpt Nation Protein Cons

  1. A Bit Too Sweet. Kyle didn’t complain about the flavor or sweetness of Sculpt Nation’s Protein Powder. However, if you don’t have a sweet tooth, you could find it “too sweet.”
  2. Have You Seen the Price? There’s no logic behind spending 26% more on protein (compared to Optimum Nutrition) for no additional benefits. $1.56 per 25g scoop is crazy; $2 per serving at its “regular” list price is even more insane.
  3. Always “On Sale” It Seems. No, you didn’t just stumble upon Sculpt Nation as they were running an occasional sale. Vince Sant’s marketing strategy is to convince you that everything you’re buying is worth a ton more than its listed price. We’ve yet to see a V Shred program skyrocket in price, and we predict Sculpt Nation will follow suit.
  4. … Interesting Buying Options. If you buy from the “Product Options” section at the bottom of the page, it’ll try to auto-enroll you in a monthly subscription. The problem: the only way to cancel your monthly delivery is to email their customer support team (c’mon).
  5. Where Are the Studies? Again, Vince Sant adds a whole bunch of numbers in brackets (as if there are studies to back up his claims), but there aren’t any links to research.
  6. The BCAA Talk. Yes, Sculpt Nation’s Protein Powder does pack 3g of leucine into every scoop. But whey protein is also a “complete” protein, meaning it’s naturally high in branched-chain amino acids like leucine.
  7. Are the reviews… real? We wouldn’t say Sculpt Nation supplements work any less than their competitors. But the fact users can’t leave legitimate reviews and the star ratings are 4–5-star images that won’t budge is a sea full of red flags. They almost always claim to change your life with minimal effort, as well.

Wrapping Up This Protein Powder Review

Wrapping up this protein powder review image

V Shred or Sculpt Nation, both platforms are wildly misleading — and we’d bet that’s no accident. The wonky price tags, lack of reliable research, and false promises make us wonder whether Vince Sant & his posse are just internet marketers doubling as fitness experts.

But then again, there’s nothing about this Sculpt Nation Protein Powder that makes us think it’s not a legit protein supplement. It will help with recovery and gains without tasting like you licked a truck stop toilet seat.

Yet, there’s nothing about this supplement that makes us think it’s any different or any better than its competitors. The price is high, but that’s about the only noticeable difference.

Rating: 7.5/10
