I Forgot How Good They Are….

[unpaid/sample/affiliate/ad] As you know, I get a lot of products here so the chances of me going back on any of them is slim. I do have some favourites and staples but recent send outs have been welcome reminders that new isn’t always better.

I’ll kick off with Chanel CC Cream, SPF50. What’s surprising about this formula is how much of a make up product it is when all the ingredients suggest it should be more SPF. It’s one of the most breathable, comfortable makeup/SPF hybrids I’ve used that evens out your skin tone with a light but present touch while offering a high SPF. It uses Murunga Plum as a source of Vitamin C and gives a natural skin finish with luminosity. Boots has it on offer (at the time of writing) for £43.20 instead of £48 (and elsewhere £50) HERE.

I loved Bobbi Brown Vitamin Enriched Face Base when it launched and it’s so often highlighted as a superstar primer. I’m not much of a primer to be honest – I am never truly sure they’re doing the job (although they’ve improved a lot over the years and I’ll cite the expensive but effective Hourglass version as one to look out for … I still haven’t reviewed it!) but Vitamin Enriched Face Base manages to properly moisturise the skin without leaving any surface oil – it somehow welcomes the foundation or base that follows and because skin is so nicely hydrated, helps give a smooth application. I actually do think it holds foundation for longer but mostly have been recently using it as a pre-make up moisturiser for Instagram content (sometimes I do two or three videos in one day so that can involve make up on/make up off three times) and its a godsend for that. Ah, MAC Studio Fix! It launched in 2016 although I feel it’s been around forever. If you can find your shade (and with 67 options, you will be able to), it’s a reliable, easy to work with base that can be built up or thinned down for a tinted moisturiser. In fact, BB Vitamin Enriched blends very nicely with this. I feel that Studio Fix has turned into the reliable workhorse of foundations – it’s not tapping into any current trends of luminosity or hybrid skin care – and yet, it’s versatile and does exactly the job you need it to in terms of blending beautifully, giving a very decent, perfecting coverage and a not-too-matte finish.
