Boca Raton, FL cosmetic dentist Clive Rosenbusch, DDS says what he’s most proud of about his practice, which has been serving patients for more than 34 years, is the cutting-edge dental advancements he’s been able to employ to make going to the dentist more comfortable for his patients. “The quality of work that we do stands out the most. We work with top-quality laboratories, and pride ourselves on not being a conveyor-belt office. We take the time to create custom restorations and stunning smiles that fit each person,” he says.
Among the services he offers in addition to cosmetic dentistry are sleep dentistry, implant prosthetics and laser dentistry, which he says is the future of dentistry. Here, Dr. Rosenbusch shares the top ways laser dentistry can make for a more comfortable and seamless smile makeover experience.
Alternative to the Dental Drill
Dr. Rosenbusch uses a Fotona LightWalker laser for his dental procedures, as an alternative to the dental drill. “For patients who are really averse to having their teeth drilled or who can’t stand the feeling, we can use the laser now to prepare teeth rather than using the drill if they choose. The laser doesn’t even touch the tooth, it’s maybe a centimeter and a half away from the tooth, so it helps to eliminate that fear of the drill,” he explains.
Non Surgical Gum Lifts
For patients who want to correct a gummy smile quickly and relatively painlessly, Dr. Rosenbusch uses his laser to perform a gum lift. “Using the laser energy, I remove the extra gum tissue around the affected teeth and raise the gum line to give a more balanced and aesthetically pleasing smile.” Because it’s a noninvasive procedure as opposed to surgery, there is little to no bleeding and very little discomfort.
Laser therapy can also ease pain, inflammation, swelling and discomfort caused by Temporomandibular Joint Disorder (TMJ). “This works on the jaw and surrounding muscles using a process called ‘photobiomodulation,’ says Dr. Rosenbusch. “This helps increase the production of the body’s chemical form of energy called ATP. Laser therapy also increases blood flow to reduce cellular waste from building up in the damaged joints and muscles of the jaw which translates to less pain.”
