The founder of Rubans, a popular jewellery and accessories destination, attended this year’s Cannes Film Festival and shared bittersweet moments from her journey in a social media post.

“A wave of emotions swept over me as I walked the Red carpet,” recollects Chinu Kala, sharing her experience on her debut at the Cannes Film Festival in France this year via an Instagram post.

Chinu Kala, the founder and creative force behind Rubans accessories, was thrilled when FICCI invited her to attend the 77th annual Cannes Film Festival in France. She was part of the Indian entourage representing Indian culture in front of a global audience.

In 2024, Chinu made a striking appearance at the Cannes Red Carpet, embodying the essence of Indian culture. She looked resplendent in a radiant golden handwoven silk saree, complemented by exquisite Indian ethnic jewellery from her brand, Rubans. Her graceful presence added depth and richness to the ongoing discussions about fashion, art, and cultural exchange at the prestigious Cannes event.

“This moment is not just about glitz and glamour, it’s a profound symbol of a journey filled with struggles, tears, and unyielding hope. To anyone out there who feels like giving up: hold on. Believe in yourself, even when it feels impossible. Your dreams are worth fighting for,” says Chinu reminiscing the moments she treasured at the Red Carpet on social media platforms.

Chinu, the visionary behind one of the most rapidly expanding jewellery brands, embarked on her journey at the age of 15 with a mere 300 rupees in her pocket, leaving her home to pursue her aspirations in the bustling city of Mumbai. To sustain herself, she took on the roles of a receptionist and waitress, while also engaging in the sale of coaster sets and cutlery. Through perseverance and dedication, she has made remarkable strides, establishing her accessory empire, which now boasts a staggering revenue of Rs 30 crore and is continuously expanding its reach.

Starting her brand with an investment of 3 Lacs and being offered an investment on a valuation of 100 cr, Rubans accessories has been a labour of love claims Chinu. The call to attend the Cannes Film Festival representing Indian culture was the cherry on the cake for Chinu.

In an Instagram caption, she added, “This is a victory for every dreamer, every struggler, every person who dares to believe in their dreams despite the odds. I call this journey “a big Indian dream” because it’s a testament to what we can achieve when we refuse to give up on ourselves.”
