According to Monica, Nayanthara’s sari features the Fourth vow running across the ensemble and has been personalised with actors’ names symbolising togetherness, commitment, and mutual respect.

The sari was designed keeping in mind the contemporary bride’s strong allegiance with her traditional roots. According to Monica Shah of Jade, since the beginning of the discussion Nayanthara was clear she wanted to wear something contemporary yet traditional. While brainstorming, Monica and Nayanthara came up with the idea of taking inspiration from ancient temples. So, the borders of the sari feature motifs inspired by the architecture of the historic Hoysala temples.

“As a thoughtful tribute to the actor’s penchant for traditional motifs, I referenced one of her trips to Hoysala almost a decade ago while starting work on this significant ensemble rooted in symbolism and savoir-faire,” expresses Monica Shah.

She further adds, “The intricately executed tone on tone embroidery was inspired by the carvings of these heritage temples, which lent gravitas and character to this seminal bridal ensemble. It took hours and hours of meticulous craftsmanship at the Jade atelier to come to life – handcrafted, richly detailed and realised with exacting details and unparalleled finesse.”

Along with the exaggerated length of the pallu, her bridal outfit also featured a red veil. The weightless appeal of the sari and the scallop hem pallu border gave a royal appeal to the overall ensemble. She further adds, “The actress was keen on a sari over a lehenga as it’s in sync with her roots. So, I thought of infusing a hint of theatricality to the sari by adding more kalis to the pallu to make it more fluid and tactile.”

Giving attention to detail, every motif, every texture celebrated Nayanthara’s vision. For amping up the creativity around the arms, the hallowed Jade atelier reimagined Laxmi motifs as bajubandhs. “Goddess Lakshmi represents prosperity and luck in the Hindu mythology and hence the motif complements the ensemble lending it an auspicious touch,” adds Monica.
