To get freedom from Pitra Dosh on Vaishakh Amavasya, a sesame oil lamp should be lit under a peepal tree.

In Sanatan Dharma or Hinduism, the new moon day or Amavasya holds special significance, with certain measures believed to have a positive impact on one’s life according to astrology. This year, the new moon day of the Vaishakh month falls on May 8. It is believed that undertaking specific remedies on this auspicious date can alleviate long-standing Pitra Dosh (ancestral afflictions).

Bhopal-based astrologer Pandit Yogesh Chaure provides further insights into these remedies, which are said to offer relief from various problems.

According to traditional beliefs, if you’re experiencing financial constraints, you can perform a specific remedy on the day of Vaishakh Amavasya to alleviate the situation. On this day, take a piece of red-coloured cloth and tie flax seeds within it. Wrap the bundle with a sacred thread (kalawa) and make a compact bundle. Subsequently, release this bundle into a holy river. It is believed that performing these rituals on Vaishakh Amavasya can enhance your wealth, improve your financial circumstances, and even help alleviate debt-related issues.

To get freedom from Pitra Dosh on Vaishakh Amavasya, a sesame oil lamp should be lit under a peepal tree. After this, go around this tree 11 times. Also, you have to keep a handful of sesame seeds mixed in mustard oil towards the south side of the house. According to Vastu Shastra, the south direction is considered the direction of ancestors. If you carry out these remedies in your home then, the ancestors become happy and give blessings.

If you suspect someone has been affected by the evil eye, you can perform a remedy on Vaishakh Amavasya to counter it. Combine camphor, bay leaf, and peepal leaf, grind them together, wrap the mixture in black cloth, and drop it seven times on the affected person. Then, burn the bundle near a Peepal tree. This ritual is believed to eliminate the effects of the evil eye, as per traditional practices.
