Dolly Parton Recreated Her 1978 Playboy Cover for Her Husband’s Birthday

Some news that will shock absolutely no one: Dolly Parton is out here continuing to be an iconically adorable role model. The legendary country singer and philanthropist shared a video to Instagram on Tuesday to let her fans know how she celebrated her husband’s birthday, and in the process, she set new relationship and beauty goals for nearly everyone watching.

“It’s my husband Carl’s birthday, and you’re probably wondering why I’m dressed like this,” Parton says, referring to the fact that she’s wearing an instantly recognizable black Playboy bunny getup. “Well, it’s for my husband’s birthday. Remember sometime back, I said I was going to pose on the Playboy magazine when I was 75. Well, I’m 75, and they don’t have a magazine anymore, but my husband always loved the original cover of Playboy.”

Parton is referring to her famous 1978 Playboy cover, where she’s wearing a bunny suit that looks exactly like the one she’s sporting in the video.

“He still thinks I’m a hot chick after 57 years, and I’m not going to try to talk him out of that. And I hope he agrees. What do you think?” Need you even ask, Dolly?! “Anyway, what I did for his birthday — I did a little photoshoot in this little outfit and, I had a cover made of the new Dolly or the old new Dolly. And in the first one see, remember this? I was kind of a little butterball in that one. Well, I’m string cheese now, but he’ll probably think I’m cream cheese,” she continues, winking.

Parton goes on to say she’s going to surprise her husband by singing to him in the bunny suit — and a photo shows she presented him with a framed side-by-side photo of 1978 and 2021 looks. “So what do you think? You think Playboy ought to pay me for at least the photo shoot? I do,” she asks.

Honestly, Playboy should go back into print for a special-edition all-Dolly issues, if you ask us.
