Disney’s Custom-Created Pantone Colors From the 1930s Are Now Available as a Makeup Collection

Before social media, before iPhones, before computers as we know them, there was a time—gasp!—where playing with colors and creating, in general, wasn’t as simple as applying a filter, popping open Photoshop or highlighting a new font color in a Word.doc.

One solid pop-culture example: Walt Disney Animation Studios made classic films like Alice in Wonderland, The Jungle Book, Dumbo and Pinocchio before computer animation—so all the original Pantone colors had to be hand-mixed via watercolors and colored pencils by the artists at the very specialized Walt Disney Studios Ink & Paint Department.
