Diljit Dosanjh opened his Dil-Luminati North America Tour in a black textured bandhgala collared kurta designed by couturier Raghavendra Rathore
After creating history and celebrating his roots through his music and style quotient at Coachella in 2023, Diljit once again made history and won hearts when he opened the Dil-Luminati North America Tour in Canada on April 27, 2024.
Performing to a packed audience at the BC Place Stadium in Vancouver, Canada, Diljit opened the show in an all-black ensemble featuring a turle wali pagri, kurta and chadra. Celebrating his roots in his on-stage looks, Diljit’s kurta was designed by renowned couturier Raghvendra Rathore.
A modern take on the signature Raghavendra Rathore Jodhpur bandhgala collared kurta, the silhouette was customised to resonate with the global yet culturally rooted style that Diljit Dosanjh emulates. The black handcrafted kurta was enhanced with a traditional Indian surface pattern textured with tonal threadwork.
Diljit paired the kurta with a chadra, a traditional Punjabi staple. The chadra is in a lustrous pure blend of silk fabric, that has been carefully selected to maintain comfort and at the same time, to exude an elegant look for the evening. It has been thoughtfully handcrafted to tie in with the kurta, yet keeping it classic and subtle.
A celebration of heritage, history and tradition perfectly blends Raghavendra Rathore’s design language and Diljit Dosanjh’s love for his roots. Creating a dynamic synergy that threads traditional elegance with contemporary chic, Rathore’s bespoke clothing is now a global fashion statement.
Diljit crowning glory the turle wali pagri was styled by turban stylist Gurpartap Singh Kang. Kang in an earlier interview with News18, has mentioned how Diljit styles his own looks for his live performances.
There’s an endearing vibe that Diljit exudes when he celebrates his style quotient through his soul-stirring music and high-energy performance. Be it his Western outfits or Indian ensembles, every look resonates with his charming personality. Adding a contemporary twist to his live performance looks, Diljit styled his traditional desi look with a modern twist which comprised a pair of black gloves.
The Dil-Luminati North America Tour is on till July 13, 2024, which will include performances in Manitoba, Alberta, California, Illinois, Georgia, Florida, Texas, DC, New Jersey and Ontario.
