A grandfather died after suffering a heart attack in the back of a taxi last week.
Ian Cook, 52, was making his way to a bowling club when the supply of blood to his heart suddenly became blocked. He was rushed to hospital but, despite the best efforts of medics, he was declared dead there on Monday.
Paying tribute to her dad, Kirsty, 27, said: “He was a well-known and loved member of the community who would do anything for anyone, even if he did moan a bit in the process.
“My dad just knew everyone. He loved his family and the bowling club was his other big thing.”
Ian, who had two children, spent a lot of time at Eddlewood Bowling Club in Hamilton, Scotland, reports Daily Record.
“He was a committee member at Eddlewood. He went up to watch the football or just have a pint with his friends and brother,” Kirsty continued.
“Away from the bowling club, dad was loved building things. Just before lockdown he built himself a man cave with his pool table in there.
“He was so chuffed with it and had the tablecloth in blue rather than green as his favourite team was Rangers.”
The grandfather-of-two, from Hamilton, was devoted to his partner of 30 years, Liz, and his two daughters and their kids.
Kirsty said: “It’s been a really tough few days.
“We have been told it was quick, it was like someone flicked a switch and he was away.”
“The family would like to thank his taxi driver, who responded quickly by calling for help. She actually ran into the club and some of the members in there ran out and began CPR.”
A fundraising page has been set up to help the family towards the cost of Ian’s funeral which will be held on Thursday, March 30.
