Cherry Crush

ColourPop Cherry Crush 12-Pan Pressed Powder Shadow Palette ($18.00 for 0.36 oz.) includes a mix of shimmers and mattes across a red (cherry!) theme. The mattes were pigmented, fairly blendable, and longer-wearing, though most of them left a stain behind (if that’s an issue). Three of the four shimmers were drier, thicker, and chunkier to work with, which made them surprisingly disappointing as it is hard to really mess up a shimmer shadow these days.

For those sensitive or who do not use pressed pigments, please note that eight of the nine shades (Cherry Stem is the only eyeshadow) are “not intended for use in the immediate eye area.”

Sweet Like

Sweet Like is a brighter, medium-dark pink with moderate, warm undertones and flecks of fuchsia and gold micro-sparkle. The texture was lightly emollient, moderately dense but not overly thick, and yielded opaque pigmentation that adhered evenly to bare skin. It stayed on well for eight and a half hours and left a stain after removal.

Cerise

Cerise is a bright, light-medium red with warmer undertones and a matte finish. It had opaque pigmentation that applied evenly to bare skin and blended out without much effort. The texture was lightly powdery in the pan but was finely-milled and soft without being prone to sheering out. It lasted well for eight and a half hours and left a stain after removal.

Cherry Stem

Cherry Stem is a dusty, medium-dark coral with moderate, warm undertones and a matte finish. It had semi-opaque, buildable color coverage paired with a moderately powdery, slightly drier texture, so there was some fallout during application. It wore nicely for seven and a half hours before fading visibly.

The new Pressed Powder Shadow formula is supposed to be “highly pigmented” with an “ultra-velvety and silky” texture that is “long-wearing” and “adheres easily to the eyes.” Most of the shades have semi-opaque to opaque pigmentation that applies well to bare skin, blends out without issue, and lasts for seven to eight hours.

The matte eyeshadows tend to be a little more powdery, though soft and finely-milled, in the pan, while the shimmers have a creamier, dense consistency. Occasionally, the more sparkly or metallic shades apply better with fingertips or a dampened brush.

Tie a Knot

Tie a Knot is a brighter, dark fuchsia pink with subtle, warm undertones and cooler, fuchsia pink pearl over a satin finish. It had a chunkier, drier texture that was difficult to pick up with a brush, and it was almost crumbly when applied with fingertips. I had the best luck applying it using a dampened brush, though it was still a challenge to work with overall. This shade had mostly opaque pigmentation that stayed on for eight and a half hours but left a stain after removal.

Very Cherry

Very Cherry is a medium red with warmer undertones and more of a pearly-like finish. It had mostly opaque pigmentation, but the texture was a disappointment: thick, dry, and heavy, which resulted in product that applied unevenly and often felt crumbly to the touch. It was easiest to work with using a dampened brush, though the application was still on the patchier side and was difficult to blend out. It lasted for eight hours and left a stain after removal.

Juicy Juicy

Juicy Juicy is a medium, reddish-berry with cool undertones and flecks of micro-sparkle over a satin finish. The texture was denser, drier, and thicker, which made it hard to pick up evenly with a brush. I would recommend using it with a dampened brush, which helped to get an even layer of product that translated to the lid. It wore well for eight hours and left a stain after removal.

Scarlet

Scarlet is a bright, medium-dark fuchsia pink with subtle, cool undertones and a matte finish. It had rich color coverage with a soft, smooth consistency that wasn’t thin or too powdery but remained blendable. It lasted nicely for nine hours and left a stain after removal.

Black Cherry

Black Cherry is a medium red with neutral undertones and a matte finish. It applied lighter than it appeared in the pan, though it was also brighter. The texture was soft, blendable, and slightly thin but not overly dry. It had opaque color coverage that stayed on well for eight and a half hours and left a stain after removal.

Take a Bite

Take a Bite is a reddened burgundy with cooler undertones and a matte finish. The texture was slightly drier and had some powderiness present in the pan, though it was fairly blendable on bare skin. It had opaque color payoff that wore well for eight and a half hours before fading visibly, though it left a stain after I removed it.
