First reported on by BBC News, Chinese actress Gao Liu is urging the public to conduct plenty of research before undergoing a rhinoplasty, as she shares personal photos of what she pins as a “nightmare nose job.” (View the images here.)

Previously posted on on a Chinese web platform called Weibo, Liu’s photos show black, dead skin on the tip of her nose. “The skin on the tip of my nose became darker and darker, and my nose became necrotic,” she noted in her post.

Liu was introduced to her doctor through a friend, explains BBC News. Without further research, she decided to move forward with the surgery “due to suggestions she ‘get a slight trim.’” When she arrived back home post-procedure, Liu knew something was wrong, reporting that her nose felt “irritated and tingly and then became repeatedly infected.”

“I had thought that these four hours [of surgery] would make me more beautiful, but I didn’t realize that they would be the beginning of a nightmare,” says the star. She also explains that the surgery-gone-wrong has resulted in a decline of her career along with severe depression.

The clinic where Liu underwent the surgery has “already received five administrative penalties between March and October 2020. It is unclear what rules it had breached,” says the article. To ensure a safe treatment and beautiful results, visiting a board-certified doctor should be a number-one priority.
