Charlotte Tilbury Ruby Blur Airbrush Lip Blur Review & Swatches

Charlotte Tilbury Ruby Blur Airbrush Flawless Lip Blur ($35.00 for 0.22 oz.) is a vivid, medium ruby red with cooler undertones and a satin finish. It was only matte if blotted after applying or if applied with a fingertip and blended out towards the edges.

Formula Overview

$35.00/0.22 oz. – $159.09 Per Ounce

The formula is supposed to “visibly smooth, blur, mattify [and] hydrate” in “one swipe” that lasts for “12 hours.” It can be worn “blurred,” which involves applying to the center of the lips and then using a fingertip to “blend and blur” or “bold,” which involves applying it just with the applicator all-over.

It was only really a matte formula when applied “blurred” as it was quite pigmented as there was too much product was on the applicator. Even when I used just one side of the applicator, it felt like more than enough product for my lips. The texture was lightweight, velvety, and moderately emollient with a silicone-like texture.

For “bold” wear that looked more matte, I would recommend blotting gently after the initial application, which removed more shine and some of the excess product. The “blurred” application did sheer out a bit (as expected) and looked more matte due to the layer being much thinner and my fingertip absorbing some of the emollience.

I did not feel that it did that much to smooth or blur my lips when worn sheerly, as it tended to emphasize lip texture and pulled into my lip lines over time. It only lasted four or so hours that way. When worn “bold,” then it was more forgiving and seemed slightly smoothing while wearing five to seven hours, though nowhere near 12 hours as marketed. They were lightly hydrating over time.

They had a sweet, vanilla-like scent but no discernible taste.
