[unpaid/sample/affiliate/ad] Okay, so this is what I needed to see on such a miserable grey day – a shot of spring in the form of Chanel. The Blush is from the spring collection, Fleurs de Printemps, with the new Rouge Allure Laque sitting along side as a separate but incorporated launch.
Fleurs de Printemps is part blush, part highlighter, embossed with a petal design. The tone is pinky-coral and intensity is light so it’s ideal for emerging colour when the changing light wants more of it.
The highlight section (palest) is subtle – it’s just a wash of light really that doesn’t take on a particularly pink tone but complements the blush colour nicely. It’s £52 HERE, non-affiliate HERE, and comes with its own brush. It’s limited edition.
This is all you would expect from the brand in terms of comfort and quality. The promise from this satin finish liquid lipstick is 12 hour wear with shine. I honestly don’t think any lipstick can withstand the full 12 hours unless you literally eat and drink nothing (and try not to move your mouth at all) but it’s never been a requirement of mine anyway. Applying lipstick is a lovely thing to do so I really don’t care if I have to do it more than once in a day. Statistics from the first lockdown suggest that lipstick sales in France declined by 75% (source: The Telegraph) which is huge but stats of decline for the UK and globally seem to vary wildly so perhaps this 20 strong launch will spark something of an upturn.
This has all the right elements for a ‘now’ lipstick where the mood for multiples has dropped and we seem to be sticking to favoured shades. I’ve picked out what I think are the most relevant – from left to right, Unlimited, Still and Invincible (which appears as part of the spring collection).
Texturally, it fits too – you barely know its there which gives a kind of no-make up feel, no matter that you get plenty of colour if you choose one of the brighter shades. It’s a hugging formula that forms a light veil of film over the lips to help with resistance and staying power while oils provide the shine. Your lips feel exactly the same, in terms of flexibility and moisture, as they do when wearing nothing at all.
