Since her early days on Love and Hip Hop: New York, Cardi B has been candid with her fans (“the Bardi Gang”) about what’s happening in her life. That’s included sharing the plastic surgeries she has had, like breast augmentation and a rhinoplasty. So initially we weren’t shocked when she went live on Instagram on December 6 and mentioned a recent surgery… until she shared that the procedure in question was having her butt injections removed.
Yes, you read that right: Cardi B’s famous derriere adorned with a rainbow-hued peacock tattoo is now sans butt injections — well, mostly. In the video, the Bronx-born-and-raised rapper shared that 95 percent of the biopolymers, which are controversial gel-like implants that may be injected into areas like the butt, in her body were taken out in August. (It’s worth noting here that doctors have recommended against these: “Biopolymers … may lead to severe pain, compromised health, tissue death, and even death of the patient,” Dr. Miray, a dermatologist in Oslo, has reported.)
Cardi B wanted to share the experience of getting hers removed as some Bardi Gang members noted that her butt had gotten bigger within the last year and assumed she went under the knife after giving birth to her baby boy, Wavy. She clarified that her larger bum was because of her pregnancy with Wavy, which added more weight to her butt. So, as a result, she decided to get the implants taken out.
She first got her butt injections back in 2014 in someone’s basement, which is as wild (and as illegal) as it sounds. The removal didn’t seem to be easy, either. “It was a really crazy process,” she shared in the video. Because of that, she also warned younger fans of the dangers of rushing to get butt injections or similar surgical enhancements before even thinking to consult a doctor. (And we’ll say it again: Butt implants can be dangerous.) “All I’m going to say is that if you’re young, if you’re 19, 20, 21, and sometimes you’re too skinny, and you be like ‘OMG I don’t have enough fat to put in my ass,’ so you result to ass shots, bitch don’t fucking do it!”
