ButterLondon Plush Rush Tinted Lip Treatment

[unpaid/sample] It’s such a long time since I’ve seen any ButterLondon products – I was obsessed with their nail polishes and can clearly remember one of the joint founders, Noni Creme, introducing the brand to me in Sketch all those years ago. The brand brought a colour chart for nails that was hitherto unseen – they tapped architectural shades rather than car colours and named their polishes things like Yummy Mummy which at the time was socially relevant. The buff shade was as famous as Chanel’s Jade if anyone remembers the absolute clamour for that.

Butter London is more than a nail brand now (it was sold to Astral brands in 2018 – Pur Cosmetics, Cosmedix and Aloe Pure) with offerings across the cosmetic spectrum – make up, face and body.

It’s great to dip my toe (or lips as it is in this instance) back into the Butter water – I think Astral has done a great job with it actually. It’s not the same personality or vibrancy but the products seem solid and interesting so I’d like to see more. So, I’ve been looking at the Plush Rush lip treatments – tinted balms with a colour core with shea and murumuru that do a very decent lip conditioning job. I didn’t see any plumping action but they’re a very comfortable wear – not too shiny either if you aren’t keen on a highly glossy look.

They don’t really smell or taste of anything much – maybe lightly fruity? The Sugar Scrub stick is quite strong on vanilla though and is very sugary and melty so it’s a bit like you’ve been doing the eating-a-donut-without-licking-your-lips challenge .. the urge is real!

The shades I have here are Double Down and Double Up – Double Down is the more neutral shade while Double Up is raspberry-ish on the lips. The pigment is quite high so they’re more lipstick strength than tinted balm. All this said, it doesn’t look like there is a UK stockist for these yet – in fact, I think I see distribution issues because the stockists there are for Butter London in general are very random. Even the press release is in dollars so I don’t quite know where to go with it! I don’t see the point in trying to ship from the US site which is HERE (in case you want to browse) because it’s not exactly welcoming UK orders (Nail Polish Direct has some of the hand and nail products but no other cosmetics) added to which the co.uk address is a dead page. Maybe I’m back on their mail out list because a new, more accessible stockist is on its way – I hope so because it’s a price accessible brand with decent products.
