Cancer keeps insulin low and so diabetes fuels tumours, it claims. Women with Type 2 diabetes have a 20-27 percent higher risk of breast cancer.
Researcher Shizhen EmilyWang of UC San Diego said in journal Nature Cell Biology: “Cancer cells have a sweet tooth.T hey use more glucose than healthy cells to fuel tumour growth.”
“By increasing blood glucose, breast tumours make their own favourite foods.”
