Bathing Culture Mind and Body Wash Cuts Down on Plastic

The pandemic has taught us that stocking up on the products we use regularly—within reason—can help keep us prepared. Refillable bottles are great because you can buy one large quantity of what you need and always have a smaller container on hand for daily use. While this is definitely more common in the cleaning supply realm, Bathing Culture is here to introduce this habit into your beauty routine.

Bathing Culture Mind and Body Wash One Gallon Refill

Bathing Culture Mind and Body Wash Refillable Glass

The Bathing Culture Mind and Body Wash one gallon refill jug is the equivalent of eight of the 16 ounce refillable glass bottles. Because of the concentrated formula (you just need a dab), you can get enough body wash for over 1,200 showers at once while saving over $100 and tons of plastic. When you buy the refillable bottle, you can opt for a metal screw top or a plastic pump, giving you the choice to save even more plastic. It’s an upfront investment for sure, but the gallon jug should literally last you about three years!

This wash is designed to clean your body while soothing your mind. The scent is Cathedral Grove, which will transport you to the Redwood canopies of Northern California. Forest-inspired skin care can not only soothe stressed skin, but it can also replicate the feeling of forest bathing, the Japanese practice of walking through a forest to cleanse your spirit, which has been scientifically proven to ease anxious thoughts and decrease stress levels.

“Forest skin care is a branch—no pun intended—from the ‘natural’ trend of the past few years,” says Rachel Nazarian, MD, board-certified dermatologist with Schweiger Dermatology. “I’d say we certainly need more clinical trials and research to determine the benefits of other aspects of forest skin care, but what’s available is promising.”

This wash is also full of good-for-your-skin ingredients. Sheel Desai Solomon, MD, FAAD, a board-certified dermatologist in North Carolina, says a good body wash should do more than just cleanse your skin.

“Moisturizing body washes can trap water in the skin—something soap can’t do,” says Dr. Solomon. “But as with all products, not all body washes are created equal. All of them will cleanse your skin, but it depends on which ingredients are used as to whether they will moisturize your skin.”

Luckily, the body wash contains organic coconut oil, organic olive oil, organic sunflower oil, plant glycerin, aloe vera, shea butter, guar bean, citric acid, and essential oils. These ingredients help moisturize and hydrate the skin, and have anti-inflammatory and soothing properties.

So instead of stocking up on smaller plastic bottles, consider getting this one gallon refill. If you’ve already got a dispenser at home, use that. If not, grab the corresponding glass bottle as well. While decreasing the amount of plastic in our body care routine won’t bring a stop to the climate emergency, it’s a step in the right direction.
