Ariana Grande does a lot of things right, one being the most iconic high ponytail the world has ever seen. Building her brand over the years meant building her look, which she always accessorized with a signature mid-back-length ponytail that masked previous damage from bleaching her hair. (Remember Grande as a redhead?) Grande has previously acknowledged her signature hairstyle of choice, making it known that yes, hair extensions are used, and “the pony has also gone through an evolution, and I’m proud of that,” Grande says. But on October 28, Grande shared a rare glimpse of what her hair looks like without that signature pony…
Teasing her followers on Instagram, Grande posted a glimpse of her makeup brand with a ‘60s inspired space cowboy outfit, captioning the photo, “november @r.e.m.beauty.” The singer paired metallic silver knee-high boots and a mini skirt with a twist from her usual hairdo — a bouncy blowout. Though we’re unsure if the volume can be credited to a seamless wig or well-hidden extensions, needless to say, this is bringing major Halloween inspo. Of course, this single photo also brings glitz and glamour with a glossy pink lip, a swoop of black, graphic liner along her eyelid, and a subtle but ever prevalent black cat-eye.
Grande’s blowout almost distracted me entirely from mentioning the monstrous accessory held in her right hand. This large lipstick tube, playing off the space cowboy theme and maybe a little bit of Dangerous Woman, has me more excited than ever to see what’s included in Grande’s upcoming makeup collection.
With celebrity beauty brands launching left and right, we can’t help but wonder if Grande’s ’60s-inspired blowout (which is totally giving me Felicity Shagwell from Austin Powers vibes, by the way) is the ultimate foreshadow for the upcoming launch of r.e.m. beauty. What will be different, and what will be the same? I guess we will have to wait till the makeup line launches in November to find out.
