In the early days of what many would call “Sad Girl Autumn,” Adele tugged at our heartstrings (as she always does) with the 12 songs from her new album, 30, and with the music video for her hit song, “Easy on Me.” Now that we’re in the throes of'”Woeful Winter,” if you will, she’s returned with another music video for her song, “Oh My God,” along with three incredible hairstyles.
Los Angeles-based hairstylist Sami Knight was behind each of the singer’s three hairstyles for the video that premiered on January 12. Knight was also responsible for styling her hair for the cover of 30. Ahead, we take a look at each of the three hairstyles that the singer sported within a span of three minutes.
Slicked-Back Bun
The opening scene shows an apple sitting on a chair, followed by Adele sitting in a chair shortly after in a slicked-back bun. If you’ve been following Adele since the advent of her music career, chances are that you’ve seen her wearing this sleek hairstyle on several occasions. Who could blame her? It’s a classic.
1950s Bouffant
Once again, the next hairstyle comes by way of Adele sitting on a chair once again (except she’s not sitting in this scene, obviously). Unlike the first hairstyle, her hair is styled down in a look that is evocative of the 1950s bouffant, setting the precedent for the Beehive that would take over the 1960s.
The Wet Look
The debut of the final look comes by way of Adele sitting on — you guessed it — another chair with a woman seated on a horse behind her. An odd juxtaposition, right? Knight seems to have gone with the wet hair look, a semi-airdried hairstyle that has gained momentum in the past few years à la celebrities like Jennifer Lopez.
Even though the hairstyles are what stole the show, we can’t forget Adele’s beloved cat-eye makeup, which was crafted to perfection by makeup artist Anthony Nguyen. If you want to check out of each Adele’s stunning hairstyles in their entirety, take a look at the music video above.
