From Barbara’s iconic lipstick wardrobe to Janine’s much-needed evolution from side part to middle part, the beauty looks seen on the cast of Abbott Elementary are carefully curated by the great minds in their hair and makeup department to compliment what is happening with each character on screen. In a recent interview with POPSUGAR, hair and makeup leads on the show revealed the products that carry their clients through the laughs and tears on the iconic workplace comedy.
The Hair and Makeup Products Behind Abbott Elementary’s Signature Looks
For both hair lead Moira Frazier and makeup lead Constance Foe, a lot goes into choosing the beauty looks and products worn on the Abbott cast. For example, as Frazier told POPSUGAR, “We did a fade on Jacob last season, but on the newer episodes, it’s much sharper and fresh, and the kids are noticing. This has been able to help him connect with these students a lot more, and you’ll notice throughout the season that kids are coming up to him and dapping him up almost more as a peer rather than an authority figure.”
Foundation
After the beauty looks are chosen for each character, Frazier and Foe consult their bags of tried-and-true products to ensure that everything caught on the 8K resolution cameras is looking flawless. While Foe emphasizes that each makeup routine is tailored to each actor’s skin needs, some of her universal products include Dior Beauty’s Backstage Face & Body Foundation ($43) and Estée Lauder’s Advanced Night Repair Serum ($85), which she combines in a genius application hack. “For all talent, I put a drop of Estee Lauder’s Advanced Night Repair Serum into their foundations,” Foe told the outlet. “Because of the way it dries, we don’t have to powder the skin and it still looks flawless.”
Lipstick
Not one to gatekeep, Foe also revealed the lip products she uses on her Abbott clientele—most notably, Barbara. For Barbara’s signature red lip, Foe uses The Lip Bar’s Nonstop Liquid Matte ($14) in shade Bawse Lady (I mean, could it be a more fitting shade name?). Some of her other on-set lip staples include Sephora’s Colorful Lip Gloss Balm ($11) and Huda Beauty Lip Contour 2.0 Automatic Lip Pencil ($21).
Hair
On the hair end of things, Frazier’s main concern this season was making sure all the hair looks were seamless and no faults could be picked up on the high-def cameras being used, so one of her staple products in her kit throughout the season was her own brand’s Fingaz Lace Lock Melting Spray ($30). She also swears by Nairobi Wrapp It Shine Foaming Lotion ($22) and the iconic Color Wow Dream Coat ($28).
