Taraji P. Henson will always and forever be a girl’s girl. The 53-year-old actress is a woman who knows it all and runs her own business. With a busy schedule, Henson likes to make downtime and pamper herself to feel good. And she takes these things seriously.

In a recent interview with Allure, the Hidden Figures actress reveals her personal beauty ritual. “I love to luxuriate,” Henson shares. “As women, we often find ourselves prioritizing everyone else’s needs. But who’s taking care of us, who’s pouring into us? I realized that we need to change this narrative.” There’s nothing wrong with treating yourself to a good bath, shower, or nail care. According to the star, these steps force her “to slow down.” In addition to her self-care practices, Henson shared the beauty products she can’t live without.

The Color Purple star indulges in a hot shower, using her very own products from TPH By Taraji. She lavishes her body with the Good Daze Hydrating Body Wash Gel ($9), a product she personally formulated to rejuvenate and revitalize her skin, leaving it feeling irresistibly smooth. She also swears by the Baby Buff’d Body Scrub & Brightening Polish ($13) for a refreshing exfoliation, and after her shower, she ensures her skin is pampered with several coats of The Ish Condish Moisturizing In-Shower Body Lotion ($9).

Along with a five-step hair care routine, Henson ensures she uses the best products for her wash days. Before she washes her hair, she makes sure she uses Never Salty Scalp Scrub ($20) to stimulate, detox and clean her scalp. Then, she uses the So Lengthy Strengthening & Lengthening Shampoo ($10) and New Levelz Strengthening & Lengthening Conditioner ($10) to clean, hydrate, and strengthen her natural hair.

She starts washing her face with the Miage Purity Clarifying Cleanser ($69), which deeply cleans her skin without stripping it of moisture. According to the actress, Sheryl Lee Ralph gave her this cleanser as a gift. She also has the Lancôme Crème Radiance Gentle Cleansing Creamy-Foam Cleanser ($38), which she leaves on her shower stand whenever she’s filming in Los Angeles or Atlanta. After she washes her face, she uses Dr. Diamond’s Metacine Plasma Serum ($200) to repair and rejuvenate her skin.

During her morning skin routine, Henson uses the Dermora Golden Glow Under Eye Patches ($10) to eliminate the puffiness and dark circles under her eyes. Lastly, she uses the JMSolution Marine Luminous Pearl Sun Spray ($18) before leaving the house, which has SPF 50 and promotes elasticity for her skin.

In an interview with CNN Underscored, the Empire star shares, “I take the preventative approach to beauty. The more I take care of myself now, my hope is for less problems in the future. Drink lots of water, always wash your makeup off, keep skin moisturized (especially when flying), protect your hair — especially your edges — and get lots of rest.”
