We love a full-face beat as much as the next makeup enthusiast, but sometimes, you don’t have the time (or desire) for the extensive routine it requires. For those days, tinted moisturizers are a wonderful option.
Unlike foundations, these base products bridge the gap between skin-care and makeup. They are known for being “lightweight” and having “minimal coverage but [still looking] like skin,” according to makeup artist Lavonne. The barely-there feel and added benefits from skin-loving ingredients give you gorgeous skin without too much work.
Applying them is pretty simple, too. “You can dab a bit [of the tinted moisturizer] on different sections of the face, preferably where more coverage may be needed,” Lavonne explains. You can also blend the formula in with a brush, sponge, or your fingers. She likes to use a dense kabuki brush or a damp Beautyblender.
If you’re using your fingers, make sure to wash your hands thoroughly first. Lavonne recommends starting with the index and middle digits primarily because “it allows you to have more control over placement than using three or four fingers or your whole hand.”
